I'm Pilot and I've already heard all of the jokes about my name. My favorite was "Pilot Viruet sounds like a character in a Lemony Snicket book." My least favorite are all of the airplane-related pick-up lines on Tinder. Like everyone else, I'm a writer living in New York City. Unlike everyone else, I live in Queens instead of Brooklyn. I'm not cool enough for Brooklyn. I'm barely cool enough for Queens but I just love Coming To America so much.
I primarily write about pop culture and especially television but also books, movies, and music. I also write personal essays because I'm a vicious narcissist despite being horribly insecure. Basically, I'm a teenager but not one of those sullen goth teens obsessed with Morrissey, more like one of those totally punk teens who stomps around and yells about injustices but then sheepishly asks for a ride to the mall. I still don't have a driver's license.
I'm currently the Associate Culture Editor at VICE. I've also written for The A.V. Club, The New York Times, Vulture, Grantland, Slate, Hazlitt, BuzzFeed, Cosmo, and more. I'll write for you, too, especially if it's a book or a television show! Just sayin'.
