Pilot Viruet

Pilot Viruet is a real person despite how fake their name sounds. Pilot is a screenwriter, critic, and essayist living in Queens, New York. Previously, they were Television Editor at Flavorwire and Culture Editor at VICE. Pilot’s work has appeared in The New York Times, BuzzFeed, The Atlantic, Vulture, Vox, and more.

Pilot’s screenwriting, which centers stories about queer and trans youth, awarded them a spot in two highly competitive fellowships: the Sesame Street Writers’ Room Workshop and the WGAE’s Made In New York Writers Room. Pilot’s credits include Sesame Street (for which they were nominated for an Emmy) and the GLAAD-nominated Pinecone & Pony. They also co-founded The Rolling Library, a mutual aid group that provides free books and little free libraries to low-income neighborhoods and book deserts in NYC.
